Lynne came highly recommended to me by a lady who recognised severe anxiety in both our dogs around two months ago. Lynne sent us a copy of the DVD she works with and we had a few days to put the principles into practice before Lynne came to see us and helped us tailor our behaviour to suit our dogs and specific environment. I am absolutely thrilled to say the results have been nothing short of spectacular and I have real difficulty now remembering just how bad it was; Brian (who we rehomed) would not look at my husband, go near him or interact with him in any way from the time we brought him home for no (apparent) reason, which was extremely distressing for us, not to mention being quite hurtful to our human pride!

We are now interacting well with both dogs, they (mostly!) understand that we are in charge and spend their time snoring, playing and running around like puppies. All outward signs of nervous behaviour (barking, digging, circling and avoiding) have now gone and they are a joy to be around. To see exactly what I mean, take a look at them here -

Thanks, Lynne, very much

To new Golden Puppy owners,

As a breeder of Golden Retrievers, I have tried many different techniques for training my dogs.  Each technique partially “succeeded” but, in the end, they were all based on how well I could “control-command” my dogs.  There was always an element of force, even bullying, in each of the methods on offer.  Looking at my dogs I would know there was so much more to them than I was able to understand and communicate with.  There had to be another way.

One day I witnessed remarkable change in the behaviour of a friend’s formerly hyperactive Golden.  My friend told me she had begun to use the “Dog Listener’s approach”.

I began to use Dog Listenings essentially simple way of communicating with dogs and saw instantly how mine began to change the ways they behaved.  They instinctively understood the signals I was now giving them.  Not only did they become quieter and far more relaxed, but I found that they were more respectful of me as I learned how to respect where they are coming from.  I am still learning their language, yet—after breeding Goldens for 11 years—to be learning something so effectively “new” (though ancient) feels wonderfully exciting!

In my opinion Dog Listening is the best approach of interacting with dogs I have ever come across.  I would even go so far as to say I believe it is the only technique that should be used.  It is absolutely relevant to any dog—whatever its age, breed, temperament, or history.

Yours Sincerely,
